The Diploma in Wines and Spirits is the traditional preparatory course for the Master of Wine (MW) program and is one of the highest-level courses in wine study available in the world. The course requires approximately two years of study and completion of six units. Testing includes a combination of research papers, blind tastings, multiple-choice questions and essay questions.
The program is organized as follows:
- Unit 1: The Global Business of Alcoholic Beverages
- Unit 2: Wine Production: Viticulture and Enology
- Unit 3: Light Wines
- Unit 4: Spirits
- Unit 5: Sparkling Wines
- Unit 6: Fortified Wines
Completion of the WSET Advanced Certificate in Wines and Spirits is a prerequisite for this course.
