In this course we will dive into the storied history of three neighboring countries: Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia, exploring their long history of wine production and challenges through the 20th Century. Recent decades have given these countries an opportunity re-imagine traditional winemaking and indigenous grapes against a backdrop of modern technique and an enthusiastic market ready for something new.
Get ready for unique (and hard-to-pronounce) grapes, distinctive vineyard sites and longstanding wine traditions!
Session 1: Hungary
Session 2: Slovenia
Session 3: Croatia
Who should attend: This class is ideal for students who have completed the Introduction to Wine Series or other wine classes, but is open to all levels. An eagerness for learning about and tasting intriguing wines is a must!
