Georgia’s long and storied wine history is reflected in the country’s unique wine traditions. Considered by many to be the birthplace of viticulture, Georgia’s wines retain an attachment to the past that feels both traditional and innovative at the same time. Indigenous grapes like Rkatsiteli and Saperavi along with the distinctive qvevri (giant clay amphorae) used for fermentation and maturation result in wines that utterly unique, but also honor the past.

About your instructor: Sean Fredericks is an enthusiastic lover and supporter of Georgian wines and was chef/owner of Kargi Gogo, Portland’s fabulous and much-celebrated Georgian restaurant.
