Sicily is Italy’s oldest wine growing region and — according to Greek mythology — was home to the world’ s first vineyard (planted by none other than Dionysus himself!). More recently, Sicily’s wine story was much less impressive as the home of tanker after tanker of bulk wine shipped north for blending.
Today, the island’s wines could not be more exciting. In this class, we’ll travel from the windswept island an Pantelleria to the volcanic slopes of active Mount Etna and discover the diversity and excitement of this beautiful island and it’s spectacular wines.
How this works: A Zoom link to our Online Classroom will be sent the day before class. Students can register with or without wines. Wines will be available for outdoor, contact-free pick up at The Wine & Spirit Archive, 3319 SE 50th Ave on Wednesdays, November 18 or 25, from 5pm to 6pm.
About the instructor: Mimi Martin is director of The Wine & Spirit Archive and holds the WSET Diploma in Wine & Spirits.
