ONLINE WSET – Level 1 Award in Beer
The WSET Level 1 in Beer Course provides a great introduction to the world of beer. Learning through site, smell, and taste, you’ll investigate the world’s most important beer styles and how they’re made.
If you work in beer, you’ll learn to answer customer queries with confidence and provide helpful recommendations. If you’re learning for fun, you’ll be inspired to learn new styles and know how to get the most out of every glass.
This online format offers the opportunity to learn over a 4-week timeline. Guided by an online tutor, the course is broken into six learning modules with interactive exercises to help refine study and exam preparation.
Module 1: What is beer and how is it made
Module 2: Malt and other sources of sugar
Module 3: Hops and yeast
Module 4: Styles of beer
Module 5: Storage and service of beer
Module 6: Exam revision

Who should take this course:
This entry level course is appropriate for students who are new to the subject of spirits and seeking to learn about wine in a structured way. Students should allocate approximately 6 hours of study time to be successful in this program.
About the exam:
The 45-minute, 30-multiple choice certification exam can be taken online from home or in person at The Wine & Spirit Archive. Exams must be ordered at least 3. 5 weeks in advance.
